Alas! My local steampunking group is, apparently, quite DEAD.
The picnic my friend Rowan and I had was a flop.
A good flop, not the belly-hurt kind. But a flop none-the-less.
We had fun, don't get me wrong, but it still was rather disappointing to discover that nobody seems to follow the group on facebook besides me anymore. I got one or two responses about a week later, but other than that no activity.
Maybe I'll try a big hoopla in the winter. It'll give me more time to work on a couple new item pieces, and plenty of time for people to respond. I'll see.
In the mean time my friend Tommy has suggested a " America McGee's Alice" or somesuch - said it was a darker twist on Alice in Wonderland, with steampunky nuances. I'll have to check it out and see.
In other news, got a really amazing pattern a few months ago ( one of the new simplicity steampunk ones) and can't wait to try it out. I love the bustiers in it and think it would be fun if I can actually make one! WOO!
Got a a chock load of steampunk wallpapers too- and just finished the finishing touches on my final art project- a steampunk portrait of my friend Rowan, from our floppy picnic. Did I mention we met Queen Victoria there? There's an acting group at the Parliament Buildings who dress up as important people from the history assosciated with them. Her and the architect thought we were the only properly dressed people there!! Very cool. Got photos with her and will post them eventually. Along with ones from the picnic of course. :D :D
I'll write more later. Just a few more weeks 'til my french exchange girl gets here! EE! So excited! I hope she likes steampunk/knows about/doesn't think I'm totally bonkers!
Ta for now!
